Re-Certification Examination

Osteopathic Continuous Certification in

Obstetrics and Gynecology

Osteopathic Continuous Certification (OCC) in Obstetrics and Gynecology is required of all physicians who have received time-limited certification and at this time is optional for physicians awarded lifetime certification. The OCC process must be successfully completed prior to the certification expiration date indicated on the time-limited certificate and failure to comply by the expiration date renders certification inactive. Successful completion of the OCC requirements will be submitted to the AOA, and upon AOA approval, certification will be reactivated for the applicable 6 year time frame.

NB: Certification and OCC are granted by the American Osteopathic Association. AOA membership in good standing must be maintained; AOA dues must remain current; CME requirements must be fulfilled.

The 3 hour written examination consisting of 150 multiple choice questions for OCC in Obstetrics and Gynecology is designed to assess the diplomate's knowledge of current clinical practice guidelines and procedures as performed by the generalist in Obstetrics and Gynecology. The examination is offered biannually, during the AOBOG Fall meeting in Chicago, IL and at the ACOOG Annual Convention in the Spring. Examination schedules and information are published on the AOBOG web site (www.aobog.org) as well as in the ACOOG Newsletter.

The OCC examination will include questions on General Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as general questions encompassing Maternal Fetal Medicine, Reproductive Endocrinology, and Gynecologic Oncology. Topics may include but are not limited to the following:
