The primary reference source for this examination will be the ACOG Educational and Practice Bulletins, published yearly in the Compendium of Selected Publications (which is a compilation of selected ACOG clinical practice guidelines). This document is available in book format, CD, or at the ACOG website for ACOG members.

Educational Bulletins are concise clinically oriented reviews on specific topics and are supported by satisfactory documentation. Practice Bulletins provide evidence-based guidelines to indicate a preferred method of diagnosis and management of a condition in obstetrics and gynecology. Wherever possible, questions will be referenced from the above resources, thus directing the examinee towards an evidence based document to assist in preparation for this examination.

Recertification must be successfully completed by 12/31 of the expiring year of certification. The physician will not be considered Board Certified after the expiration date expires until the recertification process has been successfully completed.

NB: Certification and recertification are granted by the American Osteopathic Association and maintenance of continued AOA membership is required.

The recertification examination is a 3 hour written exam consisting of 150 multiple choice questions and is offered annually during the scheduled AOBOG Fall meeting in Chicago, IL.
As scheduling permits, additional dates and locations may be offered.

Examination schedules and information are published on the AOBOG web site as well as in the ACOOG Newsletter.
